General Festival Information:

This will be our 10th Annual Woodsong Arts & Music Festival! We anticipate that, like last year, this festival will be a fun, informal opportunity for those of you interested in art and music to enjoy spending time together. There will be no charge for the weekend, but we will gratefully accept any donations of time or money to help cover costs.

Basically, the weekend will just be a great excuse to get together and enjoy good friends and good music. There are plenty of activities to keep adults and kids busy (volleyball, badminton, horseshoes, croquet, Frisbee golf, foosball, crafts) and of course, all the usual island tourist attractions. There will be a couple of barbeque grills available, but don't plan on campfires since there is usually a burn ban in effect during the summer. You should expect to provide all your own meals unless you let us know in advance that you would like to participate in the potluck breakfasts.

Please complete the online registration form or send in a paper-registration (contact us and we'll send you one) if you are interested in coming to the festival. If you are a musician, poet, comedian, actor or visual artist who would like to participate, an additional form needs to be filled out so that we can work you into the schedule. We are currently looking for people who would like to lead workshops, presentations or small group discussions concerning anything in the area of the arts.
We are looking forward to seeing you and would appreciate any ideas you have to contribute to the planning of the weekend. We welcome your creative participation!

Accomodations:

Camping at the Crow's Nest-
Most festival-goers opt to stay somewhere on the 20, wooded, park-like acres that make up the festival grounds. Come prepared for camping and pitch your tent wherever you like on this parklike 20-acre site.

Bathroom Facilities: There will be portable toilets at various locations in the festival area. If you would like a shower, hot showers are available at Moran State Park (about 8 miles from the festival site). The rates usually run at 50 cents for 3 minutes of hot water (cold showers are free).

Campfires: No campfires will be allowed on the property during the festival due to the summer burn ban. You may bring your own hibachi, and we will have a couple gas barbecues set up for everyone's use.

Pets: As much as you may want to bring your "extremely well-behaved" Fido along, no pets are allowed on the property (The only exception would be a service dog). Eastsound Kennels, about 1/2 mile away, would be happy to board your pet. Call (360) 376-2410 for more information.

What to Bring: Camping equipment (tent, sleeping bags etc.) as well
as meal supplies and food (potluck breakfast ingredients, lunches,
paper plates and utensils, non-alcoholic drinks etc.)

Public Campground
Moran State Park is about 8 miles away and is a nice place to camp along the shores of Cascade Lake. However, during the summer you must reserve a space well in advance by contacting the Washington State Parks Department. You can do this via phone (1-888-CAMPOUT) or online: http://www.parks.wa.gov/reserve.asp

Hotels, Bed & Breakfasts, Inns and Resorts
If you have babies or a strong distaste for camping, you can find your own accommodations around the island. These fill up fast during the summer, so we suggest you call them ASAP! For information on availability check the internet at www.orcasisland.org, and click on the "lodging" link on the left for a complete listing of hotel and bed and breakfast accomodations.

Costs:

Admission Fees: We are not charging for the Festival in order that everyone can come regardless of their ability to pay. However, to help offset festival costs, there will be donation boxes located on site, with a suggested donation of $10 per day per person, or $25 per day per family.

Transportation: Getting to the island will incur some expense. Those traveling from the Seattle area will need to drive approximately 60 miles, and catch a ferry to the island. For up-to-date ferry fee information, please visit the Washington State Ferries Website or call 1-888-808-7977. For more information on Transportation, please visit our Travel page.

Food:

There are potluck breakfasts being held on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 8:00-9:30 am. If you wish to participate in a breakfast, please bring a topping or drink to share. You should bring or expect to purchase all other meals/food items. There is a grocery store and restaurants about 4 miles away in the town of Eastsound.
